Memorandum of Understanding Signed by Government of Niue
Alofi, Niue - IslandPower, the Institute for Strategy, Resilience and Security (ISRS) at University College London, and the Government of Niue have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) initiating a transformative energy project for 2024. With an investment of USD 750,000, this collaboration aims to significantly advance Niue's energy infrastructure toward its 2025 goals.
The Niue Natural Grid project is a commitment to the island's long-term prosperity, emphasizing education and economic growth. Niue's Premier, Dalton Tagelagi, recognises the initiative as a pioneering force for the Pacific's climate resilience.
"The Niue Natural Grid project is the result of a shared dream of energy independence," stated the IslandPower team. "This is a testament to our collective efforts and Niue's unwavering spirit."
Glynis Miller of Pacific Trade Invest New Zealand has been instrumental in facilitating this project, leveraging her leadership to catalyse investment and innovation in Niue's sustainable development.
The project's success also owes much to the support of local champions like Frank Sioneholo, Aytron Tatui, Andre Siohane and the passionate Niue islanders, whose involvement has been crucial.
"Our journey towards a greener Niue is paved with the support of our community leaders and the collective will of our people," expressed Frank Sioneholo.
This initiative represents a synergy of international collaboration, local leadership, and community engagement, with Niue Energy Unlimited set to be a cornerstone in realizing a sustainable energy future.
